Appropriate Shirt Dress

One of my few shopping rituals has become that about once a year, I buy a new shirt dress from Steven Alan. I know, I am out of control! Anyway, I like them because they tend to fit me well and they're super versatile. They work just as well — and feel just as comfortable — at the office as they do on the weekend or at a party, and this is especially of true of the one I just bought. It's done in a festive burgundy/wine stripe and has a tie at the waist and a full skirt. It's feminine and formal enough for a holiday gathering, but still feels light and shirt-like enough for daytime. A change in footwear is all I'll need to make the look work for either occasion. I guess this is that thing they call day-to-night dressing?
